I'll refrain from commenting about the pix, though they look very nice even in their posterised form, but, having bee to this place recently, I'll say this...it's a disgrace. Real fire on the water would be a nice way to start cleaning up the holy mess.
first went to haridwar during the kumbh mela and almost got hit by a stone thrown by a naga sadhu when i was trying to take their pic! always loved haridwar and rishikesh too, despite the dirt, crowds, tourists, and fake sadhus.
beautiful .. whatever the significance of floating these flowe - diya ensembles , they look beautiful. I cherish a childhood memory of fire on the water in Varanasi when I was very small .. u must have had a lovely holiday

WOooowwww...lovely.
I think Deep Purple is apt here.
funnily enough, so was i! and that last one is EXQUISITE.
no place is too unlikely to think of deep purple.
You certainly travel a whole lot and over a rather wide area ie the world! Such lovely pics - ever think of travel blogging?
"We all came out to Haridwar"?
LOL!!Exactly my thoughts. Of course I was dying for a smoke when i was there...was also reminded of the predicament of the ancient mariner..
Priya, appreciate your appreciation.
Shihab, Panu (high five)
Mincat, thank you (but how about #5? My favourite)
30 ... ummm, this IS a travel post on a blog, so ... ? Or did you mean travel-writing in the print media?

Aus, we carried mineral water. There's faith and then there's discretion.

very nice pix. but choice of lyrics... "they burned down the gambling house / it died with an awful sound"... scary connotations for me :-|
the last pic is awesome!
Amrito kumbher sondhane a trip to Har-ki-pauri.JAP-da those were some lovely pics.
lovely. esp the one where the water looks - well purple - and theres the diya floating on it. Gorgeous
Fire on water. Such a potent combination. But all those people spoil the pictures JAP.
I love the picture with the diya on the almost purple/deep blue water.
