All around

In The Telegraph today – “It's confirmed: It’s unsafe to drive and talk on phone”. I can imagine how it takes rocket science to work that out.

It's confirmed. The world is full of stupid people. Really REALLY stoopid people. Manoj Night Shyamalan, re-make The Sixth Sense. That line should be “I see stupid people.” (The down-side is that most days I wake up like Bruce Willis and realise that I’m one of them.)

The Andhra Government paid 11 khokhas to get Volswagen to invest in their state. Then it turns out they paid it to a fraud.

Further proof – the Salman Khan tapes. Everyone who knows him agrees that this guy has a heart of gold to go with his pecs of granite. Sadly enough, his brain seems to be made of the same stuff. (Granite, not gold.)

Which brings to mind a conversation in the gym some years ago. This unfairly gifted dude (handsome as the young Mithun Chakraborty, great bod, graduated from Yale, scholarship to Harvard) said that only a retard would drop the bar after a military press, I pointed out that some people might actually do it. His response was classic – “That’s what we call PEOPLE, right? Ree-tards!”

Terrible attitude. Egoistic. Snobbish. Disgusting. It doesn't even make us happy.

Who cares... I love it!

Hmmm, rocket scientist… don’t talk and drive… seems somewhat apropos here in Florida where we have a pastime of watching the space shuttle to see if it is going to go up, and if it does if it will go up in flames. Maybe space travel would be more safe if they didn’t have to talk so much during launch and decent. Good thing we have those rocket scientists to figure stuff out for us stupid people (of which I could definitely be categorized).

Actually, it does take rocket science to figure it out. :-) Why is a phone conversation distracting while chatting to a passenger/carpool mate is not? Is it dangerous, when the person is dialing the number? Are there fewer accidents caused by hands free phones? Questions, questions...

*furious* I am anti-idiots who go around using the word 'retards' as abuse. It is demeaning and disrespectful to people who have real mental problems. Am going to write about this. Hope you love that too.

Aekta, valid point.
Is 'moron' more acceptable? Or 'idiot'?
Sadly enough, all these terms have the same meaning.
What would be appropriate?

@aekta: I dont believe *anybody* uses either "retard" or "retarded" in the context of mentally challenged or differently abled individuals any more. It is only used as a swear word now, much like idiot and moron.

JAP: Perhaps the name of the Mithun-lookalike would suffice?

FingeeK: There is a difference in 'foolishness' and 'mental retardation', please remember that. Those who use the word 'retard' as a swear word are doing so either out of insensitivity, intellectual pride, or in ignorance. Please correct them.
